Now is the time to see Ravyn Lenae, who absolutely crushed it at a sold-out show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 6. Her combination of dreamy R&B and playful pop translates beautifully onstage, where she spent the night shimmying, swaying, and singing her heart out. (A guest appearance from Childish Gambino also never hurts.) For NYC-area fans, she’ll be playing at Brooklyn Paramount tonight, October 13. —Mary, Senior Writer/Editor
How very! Heathers: The Musical is back for a vicious revival at New World Stages and the OG mean girls have never sounded better. Led by & Juliet Tony nominee Lorna Courtney as Veronica Sawyer and Back to the Future alum Casey Likes as J.D., I watched Daniel Waters’ pitch-black 1989 comedy come to candy-coated life on stage last week. Plot refresher: The social order of Westerberg High is upended by a rash of murders starting with Heather Chandler, the queen bee of the school’s most popular clique. —Glenn, Content Writer
Now performing as a duo, sibling band JOSEPH delivered an intimate set at Los Angeles’ Club Tee Gee on October 7 to signal their new era. Anyone who’s seen them before can confirm that their live vocals are absolutely astounding, and the preview of their upcoming record — with some classic favorites peppered in — confirmed that those sister harmonies are carrying through to this next season. —Mary

Keep an eye on…
…Geese, the New York art-rock quartet migrating across the globe with their fourth studio album, Getting Killed. The project has drawn comparisons to the highest echelon of NYC icons like The Velvet Underground, Television, Bob Dylan and The Strokes.
With standouts like “Taxes,” the new Kenny Beats co-production makes a worthy grasp for the Liberty torch with its fresh take on the downtown rock scene’s familiar fuzzed-out guitars and detached vocal delivery. Add a dose of psychedelia and a constant, undeniable sense of cool, and that’s Geese.
Catch them on their ongoing 2025 tour, which will make stops worldwide: Australia, Japan, Europe, the UK and both weekends of Coachella in 2026 are on the docket.

What to listen to
The Format - “Holy Roller”
Almost two decades after their last album, Dog Problems (2006), The Format have finally made their long-awaited comeback official with new music. “Holy Roller” serves as the lead single off the duo’s just-announced third studio set, Boycott Heaven, and gives longtime fans everything they’ve been waiting for: Nate Ruess’ inimitable vocals, a marchable drum line and a slow-building melody that explodes into a sing-along chorus ready to fill venues across the country (fingers crossed for more reunion shows). —Glenn
PinkPantheress - “Stateside ft. Zara Larsson”
While the original “Stateside” single from PinkPantheress’ 2025 mixtape Fancy That centers on an “American (ha, ha) boy,” the real answer all along may have been a remix with Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson. As part of the prolific British singer-songwriter-producer’s two-part remix album Fancy Some More?, “Stateside” pushes an already-mesmerizing co-production from The Dare into a mid-00s, Timbaland-style dance romp. —Bryan
Maisie Peters - “You You You”
Maisie Peters has kicked off the rollout for her as-yet-untitled third album with a double dose of her signature, yearning songcraft. Along with the gently firelit “Audrey Hepburn,” the British singer-songwriter delivers “You You You,” a dreamy meditation on broken promises and bridges burned that will find fans catching themselves murmuring the refrain of “you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you” in every waking moment — and possibly in their dreams, too. —Glenn
